The advanced periodontics teaching programme is designed to prepare dental professionals and stomatologists to become specialists in the field of periodontics and implants. This programme will prepare such professionals for clinical practice, academic teaching and research in periodontics.
It comprises a theoretical cycle covering clinical aspects of periodontics and seminars involving the review and analysis of classical and current periodontics literature, joint prosthodontics and periodontics seminars, seminars concerning the relationship between periodontics and other dental specialities, the presentation of clinical cases in periodontics and joint clinical cases with other specialities. The practical component includes the treatment of all types of periodontic patients, ranging from basic treatments to treatments including periodontal and mucogingival surgery and implantology. A research project in periodontics, which can focus on either clinical and/or laboratory aspects, will be undertaken during each academic year.
