The aim of the course is to provide attendees with a broad range of knowledge and skills which will allow them to correctly undertake a relationship with the students they tutor within the framework of learning based on dialogue and two-way communication.

It is aimed at nursing professionals who undertake their activities along with students, in tutorials for professional work placements.

Objectives

  1. To analyse the perception of the teaching role of nurses
  2. To acquire the ability to use teaching methodologies that are suitable for the planned tutoring tasks
  3. To know how to use assessment tools that are appropriate for the tutorial
  4. To develop communication and interpersonal relationship skills with tutored students
  5. To develop assertiveness techniques to tutor students

Competences

  1. To establish a positive and productive relationship with the tutored students
  2. To efficiently and effectively guide the tutorial process
  3. To correctly evaluate the tutored students learning
  4. To know the basis of the Curricular Practicum Plan for the Bachelor's degree in Nursing

Academic accreditation

Once the course is over a course attendance diploma will be provided as accreditation.

Methodology

The following methodological criteria will be used.

  1. The teaching methodology will aim to be consistent with the educational psychology focus underlying each type of subject content Work will be undertaken via different types of group dynamics and with procedures to describe the information, modelling, self-integration guidelines, the analysis and discussion of actions, reciprocal teaching, and case analysis.
  2. Whenever possible the content of the subject will be added based on the real teaching and learning activities which the participants are currently experiencing or have experienced throughout their time as learners.
  3. The organisation of the teaching will be designed in a way that the instructional devices will be developed which provide a response to the various diverse situations of the participants who take the subject.
  4. Along these lines, it is entirely recommended that you attend and participate in class in order to construct suitable knowledge of the content which is the object of the study.

Learning Results

  • Tutors:
    • Will analyse their overview of the Clinical Tutorial
    • Will analyse their teaching competences and set out a plan for improvement
    • Will express their understanding of the theoretical grounding of the tutorial
    • Will undertake a session based on metacognitive modelling and role-playing
    • Will learn the basic aspects of competence-based evaluation
    • Will acquire new habits in order to achieve communication with students
