Introduction

In this subject, the keys to understanding financial markets, global challenges, and new technologies will be presented. The overall content of the course includes classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays, where a schedule will detail the various activities. The purpose of these sessions is practical, and their objective is to provide students with the necessary tools to develop their critical thinking skills when analyzing a changing environment. It is important to note that in-person sessions may transition to online sessions depending on the current health circumstances.

As the course is worth 6 ECTS (60 teaching hours), students will be required to complete 3 group projects: a prediction tool inspired by Meteoeconomics, a Trading Competition, and a Practicum to be presented in pairs, showcasing a listed company. The course includes several visits and various online and in-person interviews with experts in very specific fields. Regarding the analysis of Meteoeconomics, the aim is for students to enhance their creativity through AI, solve a practical case, and develop a financial measurement tool. As for the Trading Competition, its purpose is to bring students closer to professional trading through the knowledge acquired during the sessions and the preparation of a trading journal, which must include the necessary justifications. Each participant will present a minimum of 3 justified trades. Regarding the Practicum, its objective is to apply the analytical concepts learned during the course. Attendees will conduct an in-depth analysis of a listed company. The activity will be carried out in pairs to foster teamwork and the ability to discuss different perspectives in economic and business analysis. The presentation should be designed as a Pitch Competition where a Dashboard of the company in question will be created. The focus will be on identifying the competitive advantage and how the company addresses growth and product defense.

Pre-course requirements

It is recommended to have completed the courses on accounting and introduction to economics. Having prior knowledge of economics will help you analyze in a more global way.

The content of the sessions aims to delve into financial markets and provide the analytical tools necessary to understand their functioning. It also seeks to be an invitation to reflect and offer a highly practical perspective on the stock market, innovation, and technology from a global viewpoint.

Syllabus

The contents are structured through a schedule where sessions will be displayed in green or blue. The blue color refers to the Blue Ocean strategy, representing a paradigm shift in how businesses operate, focusing on technology and approaches to these changes. The green color will refer to stock market analysis sessions, as green in the stock market symbolizes the rise of underlying assets.

Evaluation systems and criteria

The final grade will consider the following aspects:

Final Grade:

  • 10% of the grade will correspond to the Trading Competition.
  • 30% of the grade will correspond to Meteoeconomics.
  • 60% of the grade will correspond to the Practicum, where 40% will be the oral presentation, and the other 40% will be the joint work.
