Introduction
The Projects course in the fourth year (Projects 5 and 6) represents a final opportunity, before tackling the Final Project, to put into practice everything that students have learnt during the course in terms of both technical and more creative and imaginative aspects.
After the first two courses, in which small-scale projects were proposed, and the third one, in which we turned out attention to housing projects, the fourth course represents an opportunity to step up in scale again and propose assignments that demand an urban outlook; in other words, where the optimum resolution of the proposed programme entails reflection on our surroundings, whether these are close to home (street, neighbourhood, etc.) or further away (city, metropolis).

Pre-course requirements
To have passed Projects 3 and 4 (third year).
Objectives
- The ability to create architectural projects that meet both aesthetic and technical demands;
- Sufficient knowledge of the history and theory of architecture as well as the arts, technologies and human sciences associated with them;
- Knowledge of Fine Arts as a factor that can influence the quality of the architectural design;
- Sufficient knowledge of urban development and urban planning and the techniques used during the planning process;
- The capacity to understand relationships between people and buildings and between these and their surroundings, and the need for there to be a relationship between buildings and the spaces between them in terms of human needs and on a human scale;
- The ability to understand the profession of architect and its role in society, particularly with regard to the planning of projects that need to take social factors into account;
- Knowledge of the research and preparatory methods for construction projects;
- An understanding of the problems of structural design, construction and engineering associated with building projects;
- Sufficient knowledge of the physical problems, different technologies and purpose of buildings so they can be equipped with the appropriate internal conditions of comfort and protection from climate factors;
- The ability to design to meet the requirements of the users of the building while respecting the boundaries imposed by budgetary factors and building standards and regulations;
- Sufficient knowledge of the industries, organizations, standards, regulations and procedures necessary to turn a project into a building and to integrate plans in the overall planning.

Learning outcomes of the subject
Al finalizar esta asignatura el estudiante deberá ser capaz de:
- Aplicar el método de proyectación interescalar de análisis y propuesta con la finalidad de aplicarlo en una propuesta de regeneración urbana y edificación (equipamiento de proximidad).
- Identificar propuestas estratégicas y de regeneración urbana y espacios de oportunidad a escala 1/2000.
- Explorar el proyecto urbano profundizando sobre la tipología edificatoria, su diseño en planta baja, así como la incorporación al diseño de los tópicos contemporáneos sobre: diversidad, identidad y sostenibilidad.
- Profundizar en las tipologías edificatorias y la variedad de programas de los equipamientos de proximidad.
- Desarrollar una propuesta completa de un edificio (equipamiento de proximidad) en todos sus aspectos (situación, emplazamiento, plantas, alzados, secciones, detalles constructivos y fachadas). Escala de referencia 1/200.
- Desarrollar el planteamiento estructural, la materialidad y la características constructivas del edificio, así como los criterios en relación a las instalaciones y la accesibilidad.

These 28 sections are, in turn, the learning outcomes that will be expected of students when evaluating their competences.
Teaching and learning activities
In person
The workshop raises the proposal of urban regeneration of a sector to get to define a proposition for an urban and architectural project. It will carry out through the same project during the ten weeks of the course.
The first part of the course carries out in groups and consists of the:
- Reading and interpretation of the working area and definition of the integrated urban strategies on a 1/5000 scale (blueprints and models).
- Detection of strategic nodes to develop as part of the integrated urban strategies. Reflection and adaptation of the type of programme according to the social, economic, political and environmental conditions of the area of study. Reference Scale 1/2000
- Proposal for the implementation of the proximity equipment, the definition of the programme and intervention strategy in the context (1/500 scale). Blueprints and models.
The second part of the course is carried out individually and consists of the:
- Definition of the preliminary design of the Equipment and its scope of influence (1/200 scale). A detailed description of the project and the accurate distribution of the programme.
- Definition of the base design of the Equipment and its scope of influence on a scale of 1/200 (detailed description of the project, accurate distribution of the program and delivery of the constructive, structural, installations, sustainability and accessibility approach). Blueprints and models.

Evaluation systems and criteria
In person
According to the educational activities, their teaching and learning methods and their relationship with the competencies that students are expected to acquire, the evaluation system will revolve around examinations or partial and/or final objective tests, short-answer tests, results-oriented evaluation, individual and/or tutored exercises, the presentation of research work for appraisal, oral presentations, the level of active participation, exercises and projects.
We also work with a system of continuous assessment whereby “every week counts” and the evaluation criteria for exercises and tests put a priority on creativity and critical depth, intelligence, the fascination it exerts, the capacity to analyse and summarize and the level of scientific rigour and professionalism (erudition, precision, meticulousness, punctuality, presentation and correct typography, orthography and syntax). During the course, students will also be encouraged to take an active part in class, which will also be evaluated, and of course, the attendance level and interest was shown by the student will also be rated.
The qualification system is defined in accordance with current legislation, as described in Article 5 of ROYAL DECREE 1125/2003, of 5 September 2003, on a numerical scale of 0 to 10, with one decimal point, to which the corresponding qualitative grade can be added:
0-4.9: Fail (SS).
5.0-6.9: Pass (AP).
7.0-8.9: Very good (NT).
9.0-10: Excellent (SB).
