Communication will be carried out through the intranet space dedicated to the course. Course documentation must always be submitted online.
Personal attention outside of class hours will be by appointment via email. Tutorials related to questions about theoretical content presented in the theoretical classes, which must be applied in the practical work, will be conducted individually. The schedule will initially be the same as that determined during the face-to-face teaching phase. Any changes will be communicated through the channels established by UIC. These tutorials should be requested via email to the professor. Once the tutorial appointment is set, it will be conducted in person.
Introduction
This is an elective course designed to establish direct contact with the construction process through visits to various construction sites. For this purpose, several site visits will be organized, accompanied by the different stakeholders involved who will present the work being carried out. In addition to the site visits, this course will also include a theoretical component that will be developed throughout the semester.

Pre-course requirements
To enroll in this elective course, students must have passed the courses in Construction 1, Construction 2, Construction 3, and Construction 4.
Additionally, enrolled students will need to have a camera and measuring equipment (tape measure or laser distance meter), as well as the approved safety equipment to comply with current Health and Safety regulations on construction sites. This equipment includes a white hard hat, a yellow reflective vest, and work boots.
Objectives
The objectives of the course are, on one hand, to understand the process of project management and, on the other hand, to learn about construction by observing how it is done. These objectives can be summarized as follows:
- Learning about the different phases of construction.
- Understanding the stakeholders involved in construction projects.
- Transitioning from project design to actual construction.
- Recognizing architecture as a constructive process.
- Drawing conclusions from the entire process.

Upon completion of the course, the student should be able to:
- Understand the structuring and process that occurs during the execution of a project.
- Know the role of the Project Manager.
- Identify other involved professionals and understand their functions and responsibilities.
Syllabus
The course is structured into theoretical and practical classes. Within the practical classes, there will be sessions for work correction as well as visits to selected construction sites.

Teaching and learning activities
In person
The course includes both theory and practical sessions. The theory part of the course provides knowledge for understanding the site management process and information that determines the site visit.
The main activity is a guided visit of several construction sites where, along with the architect who is acting as the project/site manager, students will be able to see the various construction processes in action.
The practical part of the course consists of going into detail of the construction based on this report.
Evaluation systems and criteria
In person
Attendance of at least 80% of the classes is mandatory to be eligible for evaluation in the course. Within this 80%, students must have attended all scheduled site visits during teaching hours. In addition to class attendance, the quality of the work performed will be assessed.
Given the nature of the course, failure to attend the scheduled site visits will result in an automatic failure of the course. Therefore, the evaluation criteria, in addition to attendance at site visits, will include the grades received for practical work.
PRACTICAL WORK
An individual practical assignment will be completed throughout the course. This work will be supervised by the course professors. The assignment will involve the study and analysis of the sites visited during the course. This analysis will be based on construction details that will be presented and submitted at the end of the course. The submission format will be digital, although the creation of the details will be done manually.
The rubric for evaluating the individual practical work will include the following aspects:
- Analysis conducted of the sites
- Accuracy of the information presented
- Graphic quality of the information
- Conclusions drawn from the work
