Introduction
Media literacy is an optional subject of 3 ECTS that is taken in the 3rd or 4th year of the Degree in Journalism. Media and information literacy is developed from different areas for everyone so that people can think and act critically in an environment of information overload, and click consciously and wisely.
During the course, the various areas of application and intervention of media education will be studied, such as policy formulation, formal and non-formal education and training, information professionals and the media, affecting the most vulnerable sectors of the population or disadvantaged populations in this area.

The evaluation of the subject will be done continuously and will be divided as follows:
1. Participation in classes (40% of the final grade of the subject). During the course, different debate, analysis, presentation and writing exercises will be proposed that will have to be followed regularly in order to work on the contents of the subject. Participation will have both personal and group development. Criteria such as attitude, teamwork, meeting deadlines or creativity will also be taken into account, as well as following the recommended readings in class.
2. Final project (60% of the final grade of the subject). Part of the classes will be devoted to preparing the final work, which will consist of the preparation of a media literacy project of interest to the students, with a theoretical foundation or practical application. There will be a group project (30%) and an individual project (30%).
In the second call, students who have passed the part of participation and monitoring of classes will only have to repeat the final work individually, opting only for a maximum grade of 6 (Aprobado) as the final grade.
In the third and subsequent calls, the subject must be repeated.
