Introduction

The education programs of the University have a strong professional orientation, which makes internships very important . Work placements are a student training environment in terms of knowledge and skills are performed under an agreement with the company and under the supervision and monitoring of the University and a representative of the company.

Work placement in companies focus as a tool for student training and start to reflect on where the student wants to professionally develop. Monitoring is carried out through the university tutor and company tutor. This monitoring is done continuously and is formalized through various reports and meetings with the tutor university, where job tracking is performed with each of the students. 

 

Objectives

 The objective of these internships is to guarantee the labor insertion of students, helping them to integrate and apply theoretical knowledge to various professional contexts. Internships also promote the development of various skills, competences, attitudes and aptitudes.

Competences/Learning outcomes of the degree programme

  • 39 - To acquire the ability to solve problems and make decisions based on relevant information, applying the appropriate methods and situating the problem within the organisation as a whole.

In order to competently develop the contents, the University offers the following services:

PROFESSIONALIZE! Program, where students will enjoy different sessions, including:

  1. CV preparation session: workshops and review.
  2. Vocational counseling
  3. Session of "How to conduct a personal interview"
  4. Session "Social Media: how to be present on the network"
  5. Mentoring and professionalism sessions in the company.

Personalized training and support during the search and internship period:

  1. Company search and agreement management.
  2. Monitoring and support for students during internships.
  3. Tutoring sessions: realization of a "Personalized Plan for the improvement of skills"

Evaluation systems and criteria

30% Communication with the UIC Barcelona tutor. This includes:

- Proactivity in the search for internships

- Communication and meetings with the university tutor.

- Monitoring and self-evaluation reports.

- Attendance at the Professionalize program.

35% Reports from the company tutor.

35% Internship Report: (i) It is an essential condition to pass the Report so that you can weight your grade with the two previous components; (ii) In the event of failing the Report, the final grade of the subject will be the one obtained in the Report
