Fostering Dialogue. Ensenyar literatura infantil i llegir per plaer a la Universitat

En un moment en què educadors, bibliotecaris, investigadors i responsables polítics estan molt interessats en els efectes de la lectura recreativa en els infants, és raonable preguntar-se si els mestres en formació i altres mediadors literaris són ells mateixos àvids lectors.

Les investigacions que s’han dut a terme a Austràlia, Espanya, Estats Units, Noruega, Regne Unit, Singapur, Suècia, Turquia i Xile han demostrat que els professors en actiu i en formació no són lectors habituals i no solen posar èmfasi en el plaer de la lectura quan ensenyen a llegir. Però si gaudeixen de la lectura, comparteixen els seus gustos lectors i experiències literàries i valoren el perfil estètic lector, tenen més capacitat per inspirar els infants a llegir i per crear comunitats lectores (Chambers 1993, Cremin 2020, Granado 2014, Merga 2016, Muñoz et al. 2022, Skaar, Elvebakk & Nilssen 2018): “Teachers who model recreational reading can foster a love of reading in their students” (Tichenor et al. 2021, p. 1).

En conseqüència, val la pena reflexionar sobre com els programes sobre literatura infantil a la universitat poden desenvolupar actituds positives cap a la lectura perquè els estudiants mantinguin i comparteixin aquesta motivació intrínseca al llarg de la seva vida. Per això, esperem que el III Congrés Fostering Dialogue creï nous espais de debat i col·laboració sobre l’ensenyament de la literatura infantil i el plaer per la lectura en l’àmbit universitari. És una oportunitat per compartir estratègies, eines i solucions per afrontar aquests reptes.
