The Alum Cristina Ballester, winner of the “Premio A Mujer Profesional Autónoma” by CaixaBank for her studio Rota Arquitectura

The former student of the Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture and co-founder of the Rota Arquitectura studio has been honoured with the 'Premio A Mujer Profesional Autónoma [Professional Woman Entrepreneur Award]' from CaixaBank in the Balearic Islands, highlighting her career and commitment to sustainable architecture and adapted to modern life

An architecture graduate from UIC Barcelona, Ballester fuses the traditional architecture of the Balearic Islands with the current needs, maintaining the essence of heritage. Her project was selected among 13 candidates in the Balearic region.

The award, now in its fourth edition, seeks to highlight the excellence of self-employed women, recognising their impact on the economy and society. The jury, made up of CaixaBank executives and experts in the sector, particularly valued the capacity for innovation, sustainability and success in job creation of Rota Arquitectura, a studio that Ballester founded with Isabel Morell four years ago.

This award not only recognises Ballester's work at a regional level, but also encourages her to compete for the national prize, the winner of which will receive 6,000 euros for business training. In addition, the winner will receive a publicity campaign across the channels of the Asociación de Trabajadores Autónomos (ATA) [Association of Self-Employed Workers] and the chance to take a course at the Founderz digital business school.

This year, 382 self-employed women from all over Spain took part in the competition, consolidating the increase in interest in these awards, with 9% more candidates than last year.
