Introduction

The Internship course allows students to make their first contact with the world of work and gain professional experience in the Journalism sector. It allows students to apply in the market the concepts learned in classes, workshops and workshops, always supervised by the academic tutor of the University and the tutor assigned by the company.

A minimum of 150 hours of work experience must be completed in a company located in Spain that is related to the audiovisual and communication sector, such as the media, advertising agencies, communication departments in private and public companies, institutions, etc.

Pre-course requirements

Mandatory subject available for registration only for students in the 4th year of Audiovisual Communication.

Objectives

This course aims to enhance the student’s employability, assist in career orientation, and provide an initial introduction to the industry. The student will test their skills and apply what they have learned in the classroom.

Syllabus

150 hours of internship at a company related to communication.

An informational session will be held at the beginning of the course to explain the content and evaluation of the course, along with a training session to prepare their resume.

A training session will be conducted on building their professional identity and overcoming various situations they will face when entering the job market. This session will focus on personal branding and the skills needed to market that brand.

Evaluation systems and criteria

In person



  • Evaluation of the company tutor: 50%
  • Student's report: 50%

If the Work Placement course is failed, the student must return to another company to do the work placement. If the report is failed, the student will only have to repeat the report.

The student must hand in all the required documents in order to be assessed. If any document is missing, the internship will not be assessed and the student will have to re-enrol. The documents to be submitted are as follows:

    • Student's internship report
    • Agreement signed between the student and the company
    • Make sure that the tutor's evaluation reaches the people in charge of the subject.
    • If the student abandons the placement, he/she must inform both the university and the company 15 days in advance, as well as submitting a report explaining the reasons for his/her resignation. The internship supervisors will weigh up the reasons for the student's withdrawal. If the reasons are not compelling, the student will not be allowed to do any more placements in the current academic year. In any case, the student's withdrawal from the placement will be filed in his/her file.
    • In the case of curricular internships, the procedure is the same. The student must submit the report and must send us both the agreement and the company tutor's assessment. If they fail to do so or drop out of the internship, their internship will not appear on the academic certificate.
The student must submit his or her report within 15 days after completing the internship.
