On 9 September, the eve of World Suicide Prevention Day, UIC Barcelona will host the exclusive premiere of La Xarxa Invisible. A Documentary About the Prevention of Suicide in Young People.

❝The word suicide doesn't kill; but silence does❞. Through the voices of survivors, experts and non-profit organisations, La Xarxa Invisible showcases the many complex risk factors behind suicide for young people, and highlights the importance of creating a support network that involves every level of society.

The documentary guides us through the testimonies of young people and families who have had to deal with pain and loneliness. The stories are intertwined with the voices of associations, clinical staff, sociology and education professionals, who work tirelessly to break the stigma and give voice to those who fight in silence. The problem belongs to everyone, as does the solution.

Documentary production falls under the framework of the initiative launched by the university in 2021 with the premiere of Brazadas, a documentary about ALS. One objective of UIC Barcelona’s social project is the regular production of a documentary focusing on a social cause in line with the University’s institutional values.

CONFERENCE FOR THE PREVENTION OF SUICIDE IN YOUNG PEOPLE

The premiere of the documentary coincides with World Suicide Prevention Day and takes place within the conference for suicide prevention organised by UIC Barcelona. The conference will take place on both campuses of the university and in other spaces in Barcelona and Sant Cugat, with the aim of highlighting this problem and raising social awareness.
