UniRank is the leading international higher education directory and search engine featuring reviews and rankings of over 13,900 officially recognised universities in 200 countries. uniRank includes higher education institutions from across the world which satisfy the following requirements:
- They are officially recognised, licensed and/or accredited by national or regional bodies.
- They are officially authorised to grant at least four-year bachelor's degrees and/or postgraduate degrees.
- They provide higher-education programmes predominantly in a traditional, on-site, non-distance education format.
The uniRank University Ranking which, according to the IREG Observatory on Academic Ranking and Excellence, is included in the world ranking of universities and is not an academic ranking, but rather a university ranking based on online data. Their objective it is to provide an approximate global ranking of world universities based upon their web presence and popularity in terms of estimated traffic, trust/authority and quality link popularity. This is especially intended to help international students and academic staff to understand how popular a specific higher education institution is in a foreign country.
uniRank University Ranking’s data sources based upon an algorithm including five unbiased and independent web metrics extracted from four different web intelligence sources:
- Moz Domain Authority
- Alexa Global Rank
- SimilarWeb Global Rank
- Majestic Referring Domains
- Majestic Trust Flow
Web metrics data are collected on the same week to minimize temporal fluctuations and maximize comparability.
uniRank offers rankings per country, which for Spain includes a ranking of 76 national universities.

uniRank Twitter University Ranking
This uniRank page provides some information on the adoption of the social platform Twitter among higher education institutions and leads to the most comprehensive list of Universities and Colleges with an official presence on Twitter. The aim is to provide a popularity index for each university on Twitter, based on the total number of followers, not to rank the higher education institutions for the educational quality or academic level of the services provided.
Currently 8,399 out of a total of 13,888 higher education institutions in the world, included in the uniRank database, have adopted an official institutional Twitter page.

uniRank Facebook University Ranking
This Ranking provides some information on the adoption of the social platform Facebook among higher education institutions and leads to the most comprehensive list of universities with an official presence on Facebook. The aim is to provide a popularity index for each university on Facebook, based on the total number of likes, not to rank the higher education institutions for the educational quality or academic level of the services provided.
Currently 10,531 out of a total of 13,888 higher education institutions in the world, included in the uniRank database, have adopted an official institutional Facebook page.
