Jean Monnet Seminars 2012 in Macau

The Jean Monnet Chair of the University of Macau and the European Union Studies Association of Macau organize many different seminars. Some of the thirteen topics covered during this year 2012 are: the European crisis, the role of the dominant countries in the European Union, the European Union strategies and the political dialogue between European Union and China are.

These lectures count on with the participation of professors and
researchers from different universities around the world.

Earlier this year, in
January 2012, took place three lectures. One of them, chaired by Professor
Manuel Lopes Porto, from University of Coimbra (Portugal), was called “The new
strategy of the European Union”. The one on the thirteenth of January was done
by Professor Francis Snyder, from Peking University, and named
“Cross?References: Food Safety, Legal Pluralism and WTO Law”. Finally, the last
lecture during this month was chaired by Professor Dai Bingran (Fudan
University) who dealt with the topic of the current EU debt crisis and its
implication. During February, there were two lectures. The first one, chaired
by Professor Anabela Miranda Rodrigues, from University of Coimbra, called
“Perspective of European Criminal Law”; 
and the second, chaired by Dr. Sales Marques (president of the Institute
of European Studies of Macau). Moreover, in March 2012 two conferences were
taken place at the Law Faculty of University of Macau. In April, Professor
Peter Malanczuk from Peking University treated the topics related to the rise of
Chinese outward investment, national security concerns, and the Euro? zone debt
crisis. Finally, in May of 2012, there were four days of lectures.
