Dr Ignasi Belda, new director of the Artificial Intelligence Supervisory Agency

Belda, who teaches in the area of Biomedicine at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and at the Faculty of Dentistry, assumes the top role in the new body created by the Ministry for Digital Transformation and Public Service

On 12 June, Ignasi Belda, entrepreneur and lecturer in the area of Biomedicine, was appointed director of the Artificial Intelligence Supervisory Agency (AESIA). The new body will begin activity after the summer and as the head of the board, Belda will be responsible for ensuring the performance of the European Artificial Intelligence Regulation and ensuring the proportionate use of this technology in Spain.

Computer Engineer with a PhD in Artificial Intelligence and another in Technology Law, Belda has been selected from among 106 candidates to lead the Artificial Intelligence Supervisory Agency, thanks to his professional career with wide experience in the biomedical field and in research projects in artificial intelligence.

Currently Ignasi Belda is a lecturer in the Bachelor’s Degrees in Bioengineering and Biomedical Sciences, where he coordinates the Business specialisation, while teaching in the University Master's Degree in Experimental Biomedical Research and in the Master's Degree in Research in Dentistry of the Faculty of Dentistry.
