Two student groups from the Faculty of Education Sciences win the 14th edition of the Cross-Disciplinary Workshop on Sustainability
The latest edition of the Cross-Disciplinary Workshop on Sustainability, organised by the Office for Cooperation and Sustainable Development, took place on 25 November. “Climate action, health and social commitment” was the theme and nearly 200 students, divided into 46 groups, presented their research projects. The two winning groups were from the Faculty of Education Sciences
The Cross-Disciplinary Workshop on Sustainability is an annual conference open to the entire university community in which an issue associated with the Sustainable Development Goals is approached from an interdisciplinary perspective. It is a place where teachers, external experts and students from all degree programmes can reflect and share research projects linked to sustainability.
Winners of this edition were students from the Faculty of Education Sciences.
In the research project modality, students David Álvarez, Daniel González, Arnau Bolós and Marco López presented their analysis titled “The Ecologist’s Album”, as part of the subject Teaching and Learning Experimental Sciences I, 2nd year, Bachelor’s Degree in Primary Education.
In the didactic proposal modality, winners were Nora Verbo Llamas, Abril Rota Rodríguez, Pol Solà Torres and Aina Roqué, 1st year, Bachelor’s Degree in Primary and Early Childhood Education. In the subject English Language I, they presented their proposal under the name of “Lapbook for Primary Children Endangered Areas.”
The event began with oral presentations of research papers dealing with SDGs 3, 13 and 17. On this occasion, the groups were formed of students studying Early Childhood and Primary Education, Business Administration and Management (ADE), Advertising and Nursing. They were evaluated by a jury of experts in sustainability made up of PDI and PAS staff from the University and external professionals.
The event closed with a talk by Professor Carme Llasat, professor of Atmospheric Physics at the University of Barcelona. Llasat began by congratulating UIC Barcelona for being a university “leader in the field of climate action and social commitment.”
During her talk, the UB professor reviewed the different consequences of climate change and ended with an “urgent call to change behaviour” to more sustainable ways of conduct.
