"The Wood of the Future" David Baena in ARQUITECT@WORK

ARQUITECT@WORK Conference Hall. Barcelona International Convention Centre (CCIB)

Wood has always been used in construction, whether as a material whose properties make it ideal for immediate use in structures, or for its sealing capacity on both façades and roofs. Yet the really important thing about wood is what it brings to architecture on a sensory level: the myriad of colours, textures, shapes, smells... qualities which elicit a human response to the material. While wood has always been beholden to the whims of the contemporary world, it always comes back, this time to stay, in the place it deserves.

UIC Barcelona School of Architecture lecturer David Baena takes part in the second edition of ARQUITECT@WORK, with a talk on the present and futures uses of wood in the world of architecture and design.
