Cinema Sessions “Science fiction and social control: The Truman Show"

Servei d'Estudiants

Do you remember the film “The Truman Show” and its protagonist, actor Jim Carrey? This cult film has to be seen at least one time in your life.

Sign up here to attend the screening, in addition to discussing it with an expert and be able to discuss the film afterwards.

Tuesday, 15 November at 7.00 p.m.
Saló de Graus room, Barcelona Campus.

Cinema sessions are structured as follows: they begin with a brief introduction of the film by the coordinators and then the film is screened. Afterwards we analyse the plot, the soundtrack, the making of the most iconic scenes: the overall message a film transmits is thoroughly examined. The context in which the film was produced and released, its impact on the audience and the reception of criticism are also assessed.

Coordinators are Oscar Sueiro, technical manager of the Digital Media Studios (DMS), and Geoffrey Cowper, film director and lecturer for the Faculty of Communication Sciences. Both are regular contributors to film festivals and magazines.

All films will be screened in their original language with subtitles.
