Commemorating the 150th anniversary of Fortuny's death
As part of the commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the death of the painter Marià Fortuny, the Faculty of Humanities of UIC Barcelona, in collaboration with the Fundació Institut Amatller d'Art Hispànic, is organising the Jornades sobre Fortuny, three days of lectures and activities that will take place in the photographic studio of the Casa Amatller and the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya (MNAC).
An expert review of the life and work of one of the most exceptional figures in 19th-century Catalan painting, including an exclusive visit to the MNAC's Cabinet of Drawings and Prints to see the most important collection of works on paper by Marià Fortuny still preserved.

- Luís Ruíz. Painter. Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Granada. “Fortuny in Granada or The Most Intense, Productive and Happy Stage of Marià Fortuny.”

- Judith Urbano. Dean of the Faculty of Humanities at University Internacional de Catalunya. “Tribute to Santiago Alcolea Blanch (1951-2024), Director of the Amatller Institute of Hispanic Art.”
- Round table with the participation of experts Luis Ruiz, Emiliano Cano and Artur Ramon, antiquarian and art historian.
Friday, 22 November | 10 a.m. Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya
- Visit with Francesc Quílez Corella. Head of the Cabinet of Drawings and Prints of the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya (MNAC) and curator of the year of Fortuny. “Fortuny: artistic impulses and ideas. Paper as a creative support” (exclusive visit to the MNAC's Drawings and Prints Collection, which, with over 2,000 pieces, holds the most important collection of Marià Fortuny's works on paper).
