We aim to achieve sophisticated universities which undertake good quality research, educate citizens and professionals and also have an awareness of a further task: exercising social responsibility.  How can this challenge be addressed?  Service Learning is a good methodology to incorporate social responsibility into higher education. What is it?  It is a teaching and research methodology which includes a commitment to serve the community and achieve academic learning in one single project.
