Hanaa Dahy: “Biobased Materials & Systems in Architecture”
On 12 March at 2 p.m. (GMT+1), architect, engineer and material developer Hanaa Dahy will give an online lecture titled “Biobased materials & systems in architecture” within the framework of the Master’s Degree in Biodigital Architecture at UIC Barcelona School of Architecture. This activity forms part of the "Bioactive Design: Biological Processes in Architecture" workshop, organised by assistant professor Dr Yomna Abdallah.
Hanaa Dahy will discuss the development and application of biobased materials in lightweight structures in the field of sustainable architecture, which use digital design and manufacturing tools based on a design process inspired by nature.
Hanaa Dahy works at the BioMat research department and is a junior lecturer at the ITKE (Institute of Building Structures and Structural Design) at the University of Stuttgart. Her research focuses primarily on the development of lightweight and ecological building materials, biocomposites, sustainability, product design and manufacturing. Throughout her career, she has registered several European and international patents and in 2015, she won the Best of Materials and Design Award (Materials). One year later, she won the Material Prize Award (MaterialPreis), which is presented by the Design Centre Baden-Württemberg in Germany.
Language: English.
