Humanities Cross-Disciplinary Workshop “Artificial Intelligence and Ethics”

The Faculty of Humanities is organising a new edition of the Cross-Disciplinary Workshop under the title “Artificial Intelligence and Ethics”. The objective is to approach this cross-disciplinary topic, deeply rooted in the humanistic field, from a multidisciplinary perspective with all UIC Barcelona faculties.

PROGRAMME

9.30 a.m. Introduction. Dr Judith Urbano, dean of the Faculty of Humanities.

9.45 - 10.30 a.m. “Limits and challenges of contemporary democracies in the management of artificial intelligence.” Dr Wendy R. Simons, Faculty of Humanities, UIC Barcelona.

10.30 - 11.15 a.m. "Ethics of artificial friendship." Dr Magda Bosch, Faculty of Humanities, UIC Barcelona.

Break

11.30 a.m. - 12.30 p.m. “Robotics, ethics and literature: an encouraging confluence.” Dr Carme Torras, Institute of Robotics and Industrial Informatics, CSIC-UPC.

12.30 - 1.00 p.m. “Artificial Intelligence: art, architecture and design.” Dr Alberto T. Estévez, UIC Barcelona School of Architecture.

Lunch

3.00 - 3.30 p.m. “AI ethics: a holistic perspective. Dr Gabriel Fernández, Faculty of Humanities, UIC Barcelona.

3.30 - 4.30 p.m. Screening of the interview with Dr Long Ouyang (OpenAI), followed by a discussion with the attendees.
