At UIC Barcelona we cooperate with the FUNDAP Foundation, promoting the development of the individual’s dignity, always based on respect for their culture, traditions and them as a person.  We actively fight against poverty, focusing on rural areas in the western part of Guatemala. 

 

This year, 2016, our visit will take place between 27 July and 23 August to the city of Quetzaltenango. Quetzaltenango is characterised by its natural resources (lakes, lagoons, mountains, volcanos, rivers, etc) and the diversity of its ethnic cultures.  80% of the population of this area live in poverty and out of these a high percentage live in extreme poverty. 

 

Healthcare agents from Guatemala will be trained and educated in the summer camp so that they can meet the healthcare needs in their communities, and have a direct impact on problems such as nutrition, hygiene and dentistry.
