Perspectives. Art of the 19th and 20th century
For the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya’s 25th anniversary, a painting exhibition is being organised with a number of the works that are part of institution’s contemporary art collection. The collection began in 1997, in the early days of UIC Barcelona, with the idea of contributing to the cultural enrichment of the university community and raising awareness about artistic creation. Promoted by the University Board and a group of gallery owners, critics and cultural agents, the selection and acquisition criteria of the works were outlined.
For this exhibition, we have chosen one representative painting for each artist who is part of the collection. The picture Sin título [Untitled], by Nacho Amor, which is in the rector's dining hall, is not in the exhibition due to its size, but has been selected as the promotional image in the communication and dissemination of the exhibition.
In recent months, some works from the late 19th and early 20th centuries have been added to the University’s art collection and are exhibited here for the first time.
Each work will have a sign with the technical information and a QR code with the artist’s biography if more information is wanted.
