Roundtable: Supervision of a doctoral thesis under discussion

 

UIC Barcelona is organising a roundtable session with the Doctoral School on 24 May at the Sant Cugat Campus (Auditorio) with three university teachers who are also thesis directors for doctoral students at the university.

Under the heading Supervising a Doctoral Thesis: Discuss, the invited speakers will discuss and answer questions related to the following topics: 

  • Follow-up and guidance of a doctoral thesis: recommendations and contradictions
  • Qualities and role of a doctoral thesis supervisor
  • Importance of the first meeting
  • Time management and planning of tutorials
  • How to address conflicts that may arise during supervision


The session, moderated by Dr Maria Cerrato, lecturer at the UIC Barcelona Faculty of Educational Sciences, will host the presentations of the following teachers who have long careers in doctoral thesis direction.


Participants:
Dr Josep Clotet: Professor and PI of the New Cyclins Research Group.
Dr Jose Maria Martinez: Assistant professor and PI of the Health Determinants and Health Policies Assessment Group
Dr Rosalia Rodriguez: Assistant professor and co-leader of the Research Group in Regulation of Lipid Metabolism in obesity and diabetes. 

The round table is aimed at all UIC Barcelona teaching and research staff who are currently directing at least one doctoral thesis. To attend the session, either in person or online, it is necessary to complete this form.
