Students from the UIC Barcelona School of Architecture present their project for the Llum BCN Festival

La School of Architecture de UIC Barcelona Consell de Garanties Estatutàries de Catalunya. Palau Centelles (Baixada de Sant Miquel, 6-8)

On 10, 11 and 12 February 2017, Barcelona will play host to the Llum BCN festival, which will feature a project by students from the UIC Barcelona School of Architecture, as well as creations from other schools of art, design, lighting and architecture throughout Barcelona.

The project, titled CLAROBSCUR, brainchild of students Anna Capella, Ariadna Martínez, Mariona Mayol, Anna Mirapeix, Judith Puig and Sergi Viñals and lecturers Iñaki Baquero, Jaime Batlle and Eva Damià, will be on display at Palau Centelles, a Renaissance-style medieval grand residence built in the late 15th century.

The main idea of the project is an explosion of light in a dark space. To give the light a sense of expansion, the piece was, like the Renaissance, forged out of darkness.

Llum BCN is an urban lighting festival that, over the course of three days, will transform the Old Quarter's courtyards and squares with 24 light installations. The festival is part of the events held in honour of Saint Eulalia, co-patron saint of the city of Barcelona.
