‘Symposium on People, Care and Society. Reenvisioning care for a more humane society’
Within the framework of the activities organised to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the University, UIC Barcelona organizes the ‘Symposium on People, Care and Society. Reenvisioning care for a more humane society’, that will take place from 18 to 20 May in the Aula Magna of the Universitat.
The symposium aims to reflect on the human dimension of care and the work of those who care for others as an essential aspect of our individual and social life. To reenvision care beyond the field of health as a highly productive activity.
From 18 to 20 May, the participants will have the opportunity to discuss the human dimension of care and the value it provides through the following core areas:
- The value of the individual and current needs from the perspective of disease and vulnerability (May 18).
- Caring for relationships and the socioeconomic impact of unpaid care (May 19).
- The idea of care as the core of any human activity, especially in the workplace (May 20).
On the morning of 18 May, as a pre-symposium, the Doctor honoris causa investiture ceremony of Dr Eduardo Bruera will take place.
With a cross-disciplinary character and focusing on different areas of care, the symposium is aimed at professionals in medicine, nursing or social work, as well as any other professional field or sector: public administrations, companies and institutions in the field of care, pastoral care, volunteers and carers.
Visit the Symposium website where you can consult all the detailed and updated information about the sessions, the speakers and the activities over the three days.
