Lecturer Alberto T. Estévez, vice-rector/managing director at UIC Barcelona, was invited to deliver a lecturer at the 3rd Annual Global Congress of Knowledge Economy (GCKE-2016) in Qingdao (China) entitled “Green is not a Colour: Biodigital Architecture & Genetics”. During the presentation he discussed, among other things, the concept of "integral ecology" as an urgent planetary need.
He also presented three papers at the 20th Congress of the Ibero-American Society of Digital Graphics (SIGraDi 2016) in Buenos Aires (Argentina) entitled “Del microscopio electrónico a la estrategia digital en arquitectura“ [From the Electronic Microscope to Digital Strategy in Architecture], “Entre el pensar y el hacer avanzados” [Between Advanced Thinking and Doing] and “TransSynaesthesia”. The first paper was co-authored alongside Professor Diego Navarro and the other two with Professor Daniela Frogheri, whose doctoral thesis he is also supervising.
In addition to this, as part of the 2016 Architecture Congress, organised by the Association of Architects of Catalonia, Professor Estévez also presented the conclusions of two other lectures, “De lo biológico y digital en la arquitectura” [On the Biological and Digital Aspects of Architecture] and “El sentido (de la vida) del arquitecto” [The Meaning (of Life) for Architects], at the Congress' closing event.
