Alberto T. Estevez takes part as a speaker in ACADIA 2016

On 29 October, Dr Alberto T. Estévez delivered a lecture entitled "Towards Genetic Posthuman Frontiers in Architecture & Design" as part of ACADIA 2016. The symposium, one of the most relevant events in today's architectural avant-garde, took place between 27 and 29 October 2016 at University of Michigan Taubman College (USA).

The ACADIA 2016 Conference presented design work and academic research that lie at the intersection between procedural design, designed environments and autonomous machines. More specifically, this conference sought to explore recent work within the current trend in computational design to develop quasi-cognitive machines; the integration of software, information, fabrication and sensing to generate mechanisms for interfacing with the physical realm.

ACADIA (Association for Computer Aided Design in Architecture) is an organisation created with a view to capitalising on the use of computers with regard to architecture-related communications and discussions, with a particular focus on education and the use of related software and hardware.

Alberto T. Estévez holds a PhD in architecture. He is a full professor, designer and art historian and has managed his own professional studio in Barcelona since 1983. He is currently vice-rector/general manager at UIC Barcelona, director of the University Master's Degree in Biodigital Architecture and lecturer in Architectural Projects, Architectural Composition and Art History at the UIC Barcelona School of Architecture.
