Alumnus Òscar Ferrer receives the Segimon Serrallonga Grant to study in Edinburgh

He will analyse Wagner’s influence on the development of Catalan culture in the late 19th and early 20th centuries

Alumnus Òscar Ferrer was recently awarded the Segimon Serrallonga Grant to study a master’s degree at the University of Edinburgh. The award granted by the Torelló Town Council (Barcelona) will enable him to analyse the influence that musician and composer Richard Wagner had on the development of Catalan culture in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

According to Ferrer, it is not only a matter of securing the €8,000 the grant provides, “but also the recognition, which is very encouraging considering the small amount of attention the Humanities are currently given”.
