Around fifty students participate in the first #SummerUICBarcelona courses

Between 10 and 14 July, upper-secondary school students had the opportunity to learn from prestigious professionals from the field of business and entrepreneurship and the field of medicine and healthcare. This was the first #SummerUICBarcelona, the university’s new summer school.

It was the first time that these summer courses had been organised.  A total of around fifty students, from twenty-seven different schools and high schools had the opportunity to take a look at what they would like their professional dream to be. They were able to do so through one of two courses: “I want to be an entrepreneur”, an introduction to business and entrepreneurship or “I want to get involved in healthcare”, an introduction to medicine and healthcare.

There were fifteen theoretical sessions in the morning and then workshops and more practical sessions in the afternoon. The course included visits to companies and healthcare centres - for example Cobega and the Terrasssa Healthcare Consortium. Workshops, cultural activities and training and round tables were held, over a total of around 30 teaching hours.

During sessions with these prestigious professionals, students had the opportunity to attend talks by well-known businesspeople and doctors such as Leopoldo Abadía, Antoni Abad, Paco Solé Parellada, Nuria Chinchilla, Antonio González Barros, Rafael Barraquer, Antonio Clarós, Boi Ruiz, and Josep Maria Serra Renom, etc.

The participants who attended had come from Barcelona, Tarragona, Tortosa, Majorca, Ibiza and Tenerife.
