Assumpta Dangla, an alumnus from the UIC Barcelona Doctoral School, is honoured at the Bonaplata Awards
Assumpta Dangla, holder of a PhD in Architecture from UIC Barcelona, recently won second prize in the Study Award at the 24th edition of the Bonaplata Awards for her thesis Impresiones sobre tejido. Los estampados de la fábrica La España Industrial de Barcelona (1847-1903) [Impressions on Fabric: Prints from the La España Industrial Factory in Barcelona (1847-1903)], supervised by Dr Judith Urbano, dean of the Faculty of Humanities and lecturer in the UIC Barcelona School of Architecture.
The panel highlighted the major contributions to mechanical printing made by La España Industrial, a large company with extensive archives. As for the project, it explores the printing processes, machinery and technical developments, the types of design and how chemistry was used to produce the dyes.
The Bonaplata Awards are organised by the Catalan Museum of Science, Technology and Industrial Archaeology Association and held to reward the interest in recovering and promoting Catalonia's industrial heritage, with a view to raising public awareness about such heritage, which has borne witness to human history.
