The balance between work and the family has a positive impact on worker’s motivation

A researcher for the Childcare and Family Policies Chair, at the Institute for Advanced Family Studies, Marc Grau, recently published a first quartile article in the Journal of Business Research.

After a year researching at Harvard, Grau published “How context matters: The relationship between family supportive supervisor behaviours and motivation to work moderated by gender inequality”.

The article tackles how support to achieve a balance between work and the family has a positive impact on worker’s motivation, and this is moderated by the level of gender inequality in each country. The study is based on 2.046 participants from four countries.  Brazil, Kenya, the Netherlands and the Philippines.

Marc Grau is a researcher for the Joaquim Molins Figueras Childcare and Family Policies Chair, and is also a research fellow for the Women and Public Policy Program, at the University of Harvard.
