Berta Estragués and Ihor Prissiajnyi, UIC Barcelona’s fastest Unirun finishers

The 4th edition of the Unirun was took place on Sunday 4 March, with UIC Barcelona finishing 8th in the university rankings. For the second straight year, students Berta Estragués (2nd-year Medicine) and Ihor Prissiajnyi (3rd-year Medicine) were the university’s highest placing runners.

All in all, 164 runners from UIC Barcelona took part in the race, 30% more than last year. The competition started and ended at Parc del Fòrum, with participants (over 4,000 altogether) covering a distance of 6,779 metres.

The race, promoted by ECU (Catalan University Sports), with support from the Barcelona City Council, General Secretariat for Sport and Sant Adrià de Besòs City Council, organised by Gaudium Sports and sponsored by adidas, unfolded in a festive and sporting atmosphere. T-shirts bearing adidas’ three stripes and the logos of each university inundated the course, in a race that featured all 12 Catalan universities and ran along the shoreline of the Sant Martí district of Barcelona and Sant Adrià de Besòs.

For the third year in a row, the University of Barcelona (216 points) took home the Unirun Champions Cup. Rounding off the podium were the Pompeu Fabra University, 2nd with 574 points, and the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, 3rd with 1,022 points.
