Borja Ferrater takes part in the conference "Big Cities and the Challenge of Water", organised by the Roca Barcelona Gallery

Borja Ferrater, architect and lecturer at the UIC Barcelona School of Architecture, took part as a speaker in the round table discussion entitled "Big Cities and the Challenge of Water", the second event held as part of Roca Barcelona Gallery's exhibition "Urban Plunge".

With a view to reflecting on how attitudes towards water affect quality of life in cities, Roca Barcelona Gallery organised a series of four events with professionals from cross-cutting disciplines. This time, the conference addressed the relationship between cities and water by analysing and discussing some of the major international projects featured in the exhibit.

Borja Ferrater presented the project Pool-Bridge Besòs, created especially for the exhibit by his studio OAB (Office of Architecture in Barcelona). The aim of this previously unseen and innovative project is to make the Besòs River more accessible and create a bridge with a salt water swimming pool which narrows the divide between Barcelona and Sant Adrià del Besò

For his part, Julien De Smedt, founder and director of JDS Architects, shared with the attendees the premise behind his project Copenhagen Harbour Bath, also included in the exhibition.

Also on hand was the curator of "Urban Plunge", Jane Withers, co-founder of Wonderwater, an initiative aimed at raising awareness on global water issues. The round table was moderated by journalist and filmmaker Jordi Llompart.
