The director of the UIC Barcelona Chair of Mission Leadership and Corporate Government and lecturer at the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences has compiled more than twenty years of experience in the field of management by missions in his recent publication.
The director of the UIC Barcelona Chair of Mission Leadership and Corporate Government and lecturer at the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences, Carlos Rey, has published the book Dirección por Misiones: Conectando a las personas con la estrategia a través del propósito, (‘Management by missions: connecting people to strategy through purpose’), in which he reviews and updates the concept of ‘management by missions’ and comments upon how it could transform the world of business.
“This book is the result of more than twenty years of work, both in theoretical and practical research, consultancy and business management,” explains Rey. He argues that this change in business management is about finding meaning in your work, finding out why an organisation exists and how it contributes to society.
The book, written jointly with the dean of the Faculty of Business and Communication at the International University of La Rioja (UNIR), Pablo Cardona, describes how to cultivate a company culture that adds value to employees’ jobs and improves their efficiency and motivation by giving them a purpose.
