Course on advanced life support and difficult airway management in the Comprehensive Centre for Advanced Simulation at UIC Barcelona

On 15 and 16 June, ten respiratory physicians specialising in bronchoscopy and pleural techniques from hospitals throughout Spain came to the Hospital Universitari General de Catalunya and Hospital Germans Trias i Pujol for training in the use of sedation in bronchoscopy.

The participants gained hands-on experience in advanced life support techniques, advanced difficult airway management and the use of sedatives in both the operating room and the Comprehensive Centre for Advanced Simulation at the Universitat Internacional de Catalunya. This large, modern facility spans more than 1,000 m2 and features cutting-edge technology and a design that is identical to a healthcare centre.

This course, set up by the Spanish Society for Respiratory Medicine and Thoracic Surgery (SEPAR), was organised by the departments of Respiratory Medicine at Hospital Universitari General de Catalunya and Hospital Germans Trias i Pujol. It is the first of six courses that SEPAR will hold this year in Barcelona and Madrid, in which 60 bronchoscopy specialists will become certified.
