The dean of the Faculty of Education, Esther Jiménez, and lecturer Salvador Vidal took part as speakers in the “Conference on Methodology and Innovation in Teaching”, organised by the Episcopal Conference on 8 and 9 March in Madrid.

Together they gave a lecture entitled “Metodología e innovación docente. Buenas prácticas en la Universidad” [Teaching Methodology and Innovation: Good Practices at University], in which they introduced a number of the active methodologies used by the Faculty at UIC Barcelona. In this regard, they discussed pioneering educational techniques such as Problem-Based Learning, Service Learning and the presentation of case studies. 

“The objective was to get to know the Church’s other teacher training centres and to share experiences. There were four communication tables, and some very interesting training proposals were put forward”, explain Vidal. UIC Barcelona was also part of the organising committee.

Central to the conference was the issue of training Christian educators, in efforts to promote reflection on how they are educated, support university teaching staff and generate opportunities for innovation in the teaching sector.
