Dentium and UIC Barcelona set up the Chair for Research into Bone Regeneration in Implant Dentistry

Led by Dr Federico Hernández-Alfaro, the main aim of the new chair is to undertake research and carry out projects in the field of bone regeneration in dentistry.

The Chair for Research into Bone Regeneration in Implant dentistry is the result of cooperation between UIC Barcelona and the Korean company Dentium.  Directed by Dr Federico Hernández-Alfaro, the new chair will help to galvanise the transfer of knowledge through research projects and training for industry professionals.

The main purpose of this Chair, directed by Dr Federico Hernández-Alfaro, full professor and head of the area of Oral and Maxillofacial Medical-Surgical Pathology in the Faculty of Dentistry is to undertake research and disseminate the knowledge generated in the field of bone regeneration in implant dentistry.  At a scientific level, a prospective clinical study to analyse the effectiveness of the materials used in several different regeneration techniques will be carried out. Courses on animal and cadaver models on our Sant Cugat campus will also be organised, focusing on the most advanced techniques in implant surgery, and the management of hard and soft tissue, thus promoting the transfer of knowledge.

Thursday 15 November marked the beginning of the first edition of the course Hands-on Cadaver Intensive Course in Advanced Implant Surgery: Hard and Soft Tissue Management, which took place in the Anatomy Laboratory at UIC Barcelona.
