Doctoral student Anna Fosch wins the third edition of the internal competition “Describe your thesis in 4 minutes”

Health Sciences doctoral student Anna Fosch won UIC Barcelona's internal competition “Describe your thesis in 4 minutes”, organised by the Doctoral School. This year’s competition was held online between nine students from different doctoral programmes (Architecture, Health Sciences, Communication, Education and Humanities and Economics and Law). Fosch will go on to represent UIC Barcelona in the interuniversity final organised by the Catalan Foundation for Research and Innovation (FCRi).

On Friday 5 June, the internal competition “Describe your thesis in 4 minutes” was held online.  Over 100 people attended the session to see the nine doctoral students present their theses and the key conclusions obtained from their studies in a maximum time of four minutes, using a language that could be easily understood by a non-specialist audience.

The jury was made up of Jordi Villà, Vice-Rector for Research, Innovation and Knowledge Transfer; Rebeca Pardo, lecturer at the Faculty of Communication Sciences and Inmaculada Vela, lecturer at the Faculty of Dentistry.

As in previous editions, the participants were battling it out for three different prizes, two awarded by the jury and a third by the audience. Anna Fosch presented her thesis entitled “Menja greixos i aprima't, el teu cervell sap com fer-ho!” (Eat fat and lose weight, your brain knows what to do!) and won first prize from the jury and third from the audience, whilst the jury’s second prize was awarded to Gema García Luján for the presentation of her thesis entitled “Análisis de los ODS 4 y 5 en la Universidad Anáhuac - Enfoque en la Universidad Anáhuac Mayab” (An analysis of SDG 4 and 5 at Anáhuac University - Focus on Anahuac Mayab University).

In addition to winning first prize, which is free enrolment to the coming academic year, Anna Fosch will also represent UIC Barcelona in the FCRi final due to take place on-site without an audience on 25 June.
