Dr Clavell: “Universities are home to free and critical thought”
The emeritus professor from the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross gave a talk aimed at the whole university community
The emeritus professor from the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross (Italy), Dr Lluís Clavell, gave the following talk, entitled: “The university at the service of the whole person” in a session aimed at the university community.
In this session, this holder of a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Navarra and the Pontifical Lateran University shared his experiences in relation to ways to respond to the current demand for professional preparation in universities and defended the role of the university as a “home to free and critical thought”.
Along these lines, Dr Clavell stated that “Philosophy helps you to live well because people are happy when they find that their knowledge is placed at the service of the individual”. He also expressed his support for meeting points and places for reflection such as seminars aimed at academics as a way to intellectually stimulate professors and lecturers.
