Dr Maria Teresa Fuertes presented the book which she coordinated alongside Dr Anna Escofet: ‘Constructing synergies between university and society. 20 service learning experiences at Catalan universities’. 

The event took place on 4 July in the Assembly of the Catalan Service Learning Network (ApS) as part of the International Conference on University Teaching and Innovation. In the Girona Conference Centre, Fuertes presented the book which brings together 20 service learning experiences at Catalan universities. 

These experiences uncover specific aspects ranging from the perspective of the teacher or the student to contributors in the organisations involved. As an example, the authors explain the cases of Economics and Communication students helping entrepreneurs at risk of social exclusion to set their business idea in motion with micro credits from ethical organisations. Or the example of Psychology students promoting educational inclusion in disadvantaged contexts through the use of ICT.
