At the end of May, the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Dr Lluís Giner, attended the annual meeting of the Pierre Fauchard Academy, of which he is a member. At the meeting, held in El Burgo de Osma, Soria, controversial issues were discussed related to the change in the paradigm which is occurring due to the fast progress of knowledge. A new President and Secretary were also chosen to achieve the association’s future objectives.
Additionally, in this edition new technologies in the field of dentistry - which should be a means in terms of treatment, rather than an end- were covered. New challenges in terms of searching for excellent treatments for people with a solid ethical and professional basis were also discussed.
The Pierre Fauchard Academy, founded in 1936, is an honorific institution that includes researchers, professors and the most important dentists from the dentistry sector around the world among its members, based on the ethical, scientific and honorific principles that were always present in the actions carried out by Dr Pierre Fauchard. Also, the Spanish Pierre Fauchard Academy - which contains 150 dentists out of the 20,000 members of the Spanish Dentistry Society- is the only one that brings together the hundred or so dentists who most stand out in the various fields of dentistry among those who are members of the Spanish Dentistry Society organisation.
