Dr Jelena Prokopljević coordinates the Arquinset lecture series on housing

The event aims to debate the paradigm shift in construction and access to housing in the 21st century

Jelena Prokopljević, lecturer in History and Composition at UIC Barcelona School of Architecture, is coordinator of the Arquinset lecture series – an initiative set up by the organising committee of the FAD architecture awards – held from 26 September to 21 November in the Documentation Centre at Barcelona Design Museum.

This year’s Arquinset lecture series revolves around the central theme of housing. Admission to Arquinset is free and requires prior registration on its official website. 2018 also marks the 60th anniversary of the FAD architecture awards. To mark the occasion, the winners of the previous two editions have been invited to take part to showcase the architectural quality and the theoretical backing of the projects awarded.

“This year’s lecture series sets out to question one of the paradigms on 21st century housing at a time when lines between different types of housing are becoming blurred due to multi-purpose uses and overlapping or the impact of technology.  It is fundamental that we understand that housing is constantly changing and that we can no longer view it as being a fixed physical reality”, says the lecturer at UIC Barcelona School of Architecture.

Jelena Prokopljević is also a member on the ArquinFAD judging panel, and will open the final speech on 21 November given by Lluís Alexandre Casanovas Blanco, winner of the FAD award for thought and criticism in 2017.
