Dr Josep Maria Serra Renom, full professor of Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery at UIC Barcelona, was recently awarded the Medal for Professional Merit in recognition of his excellent professional, academic and research career in the fields of medicine and surgery.
The award ceremony took place in the Barcelona Convention Centre and was presided by the Minister of Health, Ms Dolors Montserrat, who called attention to Dr Serra Renom’s distinguished professional career and his deep-seated desire to help society. During the event, the director of the Aesthetic Surgery Institute at Hospital Quirónsalud Barcelona was also named Honorary Member of the European Council of Doctors.
An expert in plastic, aesthetic and reconstructive surgery, Dr Serra Renom founded and directed the Department of Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery at the Clínica Universidad de Navarra and was the first head of the Department of Plastic Surgery at Hospital Clinic Barcelona. Dr Josep Maria Serra Renom's work includes six books on the subject, 230 papers in scientific journals and a number of patents.
