Dr Marian Lorente gives a presentation at the first World Medical Acupuncture Congress ICMART-FILASMA

Marian Lorente, professor of Anatomy and director of the Integrative Health and Pain Management Unit in the Faculty of Medicine at UIC Barcelona, took part as a guest speaker in the first World Medical Acupuncture Congress with a presentation entitled “Acupuntura en neuropatía inducida por tratamientos oncológicos” [Acupuncture in cancer-treatment induced neuropathy].

Dr Lorente is part of the team currently involved in the first project in Spain focused on treating chemotherapy-induced neuropathy at the Terrassa Health Consortium Outpatient Clinic. The lecturer also moderated one of the workshops held during the congress, which focused on diagnosis. 

Mexico City was the site chosen to host the first World Medical Acupuncture Congress, organised by the International Council of Medical Acupuncture and Related Techniques (ICMART), with the experience of having organised 31 world congresses, and the Ibero-Latin American Federation of Medical Acupuncture Societies (FILASMA), both of which were represented by the Mexican College of Human Acupuncture (COMAH).
