Eight students from the ESARQ - School of Architecture at UIC Barcelona take part in the workshop 'First International Summer Design Camp of East Mount Huangshan' in China

For the second straight year, students from the ESARQ - School of Architecture will take part, from 24 to 29 July, in a workshop in China.

This year, eight students from UIC Barcelona, accompanied by lecturer Marta García-Orte, will join eight young Chinese students and architects in the workshop “First International Summer Design Camp of East Mount Huangshan: Renovation of the Educated Youth Cultural Park in Shanghai Mount Huangshan Tea Farm”. The project will be based in Huangshan, a prefectural city 500 kilometres west of Shanghai (China).

This year’s task will consist of proposing ways to convert a former tea plantation into a youth hostel and to renovate the old main building.

The workshop has been co-coordinated by Dr Carmen Mendoza, assistant director for International Relations and lecturer in the ESARQ - School of Architecture at UIC Barcelona, and architect Lingfeng Tong, a partner in the company Shanghai Bambuspace Design and head of the Focus on the Reality research group at Southeast University - SEU (Nanjing, China), and sponsored by the company Shanghai Bright Food Group.

The results of the workshop will be published in the journals Archicreation and El Croquis (Chinese Edition, Beijing).
