Eight UIC Barcelona lecturers take part in the First International Physiotherapy Congress

The event provided participants a great opportunity to share knowledge, opinions, challenges and synergies in all areas of Physiotherapy.

On 4 and 5 May, the First International Physiotherapy Congress was held at the International Convention Centre in Barcelona. The event gathered together experts from all areas of Physiotherapy, among them eight UIC Barcelona lecturers.

In particular, Caritat Bagur, Juanjo García, Rosa Cabanas, Almudena Medina, Jordi Calvo, Laia Monné, Ernesto Herrera and Lourdes Macias attended the congress on behalf of UIC Barcelona. The Department of Physiotherapy lecturers delivered several talks, presentations and a lecture, which assessed, analysed and offered recommendations regarding the main lines of research in which the lecturers are currently involved, in all areas of Physiotherapy, including neurology, oncology and paediatrics.

The first edition of this international event, organised by the Catalan Physiotherapy Association, featured around 1,800 people, between attendees and speakers. “As physiotherapists, we usually work alone, with virtually no contact with other colleagues. This congress was a great chance to get together and strengthen ties, to assert our position as the health professionals we are”, explained Manel Domingo, dean of the Catalan Physiotherapy Association.
