The Faculty of Law hosts and co-organises a series of conferences entitled “Our Legal Institutions” along with the Catalan Society for Legal Studies

Once again this year the Faculty of Law co-organised a series of conferences entitled “Our Legal Institutions”. It was co-organised along with the Catalan Society for Legal Studies, the Barcelona Bar Association (ICAB), Barcelona Provincial Council, and the faculties of law in the University of Barcelona, the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, the Pompeu Fabra University, the Rovira i Virgili University, the University of Girona, the University of Lleida and the Open University of Catalonia. 

The series of conferences opened on 5 October with a conference by Dr Ignacio Ruiz Rodríguez, a Professor at Rey Juan Carlos University, and was held in the Puig i Cadafalch room at the Institute for Catalan Studies in Barcelona.    

The attendees, who numbered more than a hundred, included students who are taking a History of Law subject in the faculty. 

The second conference in the series was entitled “Women, Family and Work in Modern Barcelona” and was given by Dr Josep Capdeferro Pla, from the Pompeu Fabra Univiversity. This one took place at UIC Barcelona on 19 October.  

The next conference will take place on 10 November, also at UIC Barcelona, and will be entitled «The Annihilation of the Republic by General Franco and the Legal Administration in Catalonia (1936-1939)» to be given by Dr Frederic Vázquez Osuna, a Professor from the University of Barcelona. 

The rest of the conferences will be held at the Barcelona Bar Association (ICAB) and the Centre for Legal Studies and Specialised Training and will be taught by the following professors from the Faculty of Law at UIC Barcelona:  Antoni Bosch, Carmen M. Lázaro, Montserrat Nebrera and Jesús Gómez Taboada.
