Five Business Administration students reach the final of the Mapfre Foundation’s bugaMAP championships

The competition, based on a computer game which simulates the sale of life insurance, featured students from five universities

Five students from the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences will represent UIC Barcelona in the Mapfre Foundation’s first bugaMAP championships. Thus, on 23 November, Anna Casquet, Meritxell Clemente, Cristina Castell Rojas, María Conde Sarrias and Magda Valls passed the first round of the game devised by the Foundation.

In this round, participants were required to solve three simulation exercises related to the sale of life insurance, all of which focused on different historical (and therefore economic) periods. To complete the game, the students used software developed by the Foundation.

The objective was to observe the business strategies used by the students to resolve the issues and the impact of their decisions. Following each stage, the participants were awarded a score.

In the final round, the five students from UIC Barcelona will compete against four other teams from universities throughout Catalonia and the Balearic Islands. These include the University of Lleida, the University of the Balearic Islands, the University of Girona and the Abat Oliba CEU University.

The participants will vie for a cash prize and a trophy from the Mapfre Foundation, in recognition of their work. They will also have the chance to take a guided tour of the Foundation’s main offices for Catalonia and the Balearic Islands.
