The Reina Sofía Museum in Madrid hosted the most recent edition of the Albert Jovell Prize Forum which brought together more than 400 people, including healthcare professionals, patient associations, academic institutions and health authorities.

 

In its fourth edition, the initiative run by Janssen and Cátedras en Red, which UIC Barcelona has been a member of since its inception represented by the University Institute for Patient Care, received more than 323 projects which were assessed by a jury of 37 experts and representatives from different healthcare areas. 19 of these projects were awarded a prize for best conveying the values of affectivity, effectiveness, innovation, commitment and humanity in each of the six categories. Dr Boi Ruiz and Dr Roser Vallès, director and coordinator of the University Institute for Patient Care at UIC Barcelona were members of the jury and took part in the award ceremony. 

 

Moreover, this year the Honorary Award for Outstanding Career in Healthcare went to Dr Miquel Vilardell, full professor in Internal Medicine at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and who, over the course of his career, has presided over the Spanish and Catalan societies for internal medicine and the Medical Association of Barcelona. 

 

The fourth Albert Jovell Prize Forum also highlighted how technology can live alongside and contribute to the affective-effective model. Rapid technological progress and the development of new information and communications technologies facilitate and make people’s access to large volumes of data possible. This has contributed to their education and makes access, dissemination and knowledge creation efficient, as well as exchanging experiences and making help and reference documents available to the general public and professionals.
